Local knowledge:

CSBA is a post secondary school registered school with PCTIA, a crown agency that reports to the provincial government of B.C. Our school is based in Whistler, Canada. All staff members live in the community and call Whistler home. We know the mountain and environment really well and would love to share it with you. Let us show you how much fun studying English and sports can be in this environment. Whistler has ranked No.1 in resorts in North America for many years and is one of the biggest in the world. Whistler is also the host village for the 2010 Olympic Games and, every year, hosts several world class events (from World Cups to freestyle ski, snowboard and bike events). Whistler is known not only as a winter resort, but also as a first class bike park. Many of the best athletes in the world do their training here.

Learning:

‘Learn English Through Sports’

Have you been studying English for a long time and still feel like you have not achieved the level you want to? Come to our academy and find out how much fun learning English through sports can be. We understand how difficult a standard classroom setting can be.  That is why we have students ‘experience’ the learning and use it in a practical way so that the language comes more naturally. You will find it easier to progress.  Many years of teaching experience has allowed our students to be successful in exams and passing their licenses.  You will gain both your desired qualification in sports, as well as a diploma for completing our educational program and dramatically improving your English skills.

The best of all is that you are not only working on your English, but also on your knowledge of the business of sports.  Included in all our programs are certifications in sports or recreational guiding which are recognized not only in Canada, but all over the world. All our courses are based on theory classes which include understanding the technique, video analyzes, terminology and practical experience. Our school works together with Whistler Blackcomb Ski School, Whistler Blackcomb Bike Park and Meadow Park Sports Centre to provide our students with practical experience after finishing their certifications. You can then easily begin your career in sports business.

If you are only interested in the Sport programs you will not participate in the ESL classes, everything else is part of Sport programs as well.

All desired certifications and classes are included in the price of our program.

Train with the best:

All of our coaches and instructors are among the best in Canada and have years of experience. Some of them are on Canadian national teams or have experience competing in World Cups and X-Games. We are working together with national coaches to provide our students with the best possible training.  Many of our students have stayed with their sport and have become professionals or coaches themselves.  Others have gone beyond our programs and gained the highest certification in their sports or have joined a national team.

Certifications and activities:

Every program has specific certifications our students are working towards.  Every program includes a First Aid course and all the winter programs take part in avalanche awareness courses.  In the summer, we organize several hiking trips and overnight expeditions as well as trips to Vancouver. In the winter, students participate in an overnight trip to the backcountry to practice knowledge acquired from the avalanche course.

All the above is included in the price.  It is also possible to take additional courses which we can assist with. More details in each program description.

And a little bit more:

All our students have personal lockers and ski lockers for their use, free wireless Internet access in school, free computer access and use of the tuning room. The students all receive passes to Meadow Park Sports Centre (unlimited access to the center for all-year students, in-class limited access for all other programs). The school has a lounge area for students to take breaks, eat lunch and prepare for classes. Tables, a microwave, and an electric kettle are provided for students' convenience.

For our long term programs (half year, one year, two years) our academy can assist students obtaining a co-op work visa to be able to gain practical experience.
